FOOD DOESN’T HAVE MORALS, YOU DO
Do you label foods “good” or “bad”? Do you beat yourself up over food choices that society perceives as “bad”? Why does food have a morality association anyway? Who started that whole thing?
Isn’t food just food? Better yet, isn’t food technically fuel or energy? Am I now a criminal because I pigged out on Ben and Jerry’s and had 3 pieces of bodega pizza while drunk last night? Am I now a saint because I ate a salad and I frequent whole foods? (Blessed be the fruit b*tches.)
These were the types of questions that I would have in my head as I was learning about food, exercise, and overall health as a young fitness professional. I had to interpret it all to the best of my knowledge, connect my own dots to the different puzzle pieces, and then turnaround and teach it to others.
I preached what I “thought” I knew to be true, but a lot of sh*t is true, or has some small fraction of truth. What I didn’t realize, was that I was only taught specifics about a few small pieces of the puzzle, from the perspective of those small pieces. This thing called life is a very mysterious, mystical, and massive adventure that we still have a lot to learn about.
The perception of living life and how it should be lived optimally, is interpreted different around the world. I think each part of the world has a significant piece of how to live an optimal life, and we have to look for the cultural consistencies and figure out what’s best for us as one big whole.
We are not just one part, we are a synergy combination of interdependent parts. There’s so much information to study, learn, and process. But people, behavior, and patterns evolve. I don’t believe that “everything happens for a reason”, sh*t just happens and you can either learn from it or allow it to define, destroy, and damage you. What I went through brought me to a bigger food energy AHA moment.
FOOD ISN’T GOOD OR BAD, FOOD IS ENERGY
Your health, fitness, and food have one major thing in common: ENERGY
In Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia (I LOVE me some Australians though) and all places of the world including the US, the one thing that all food theories, science, and health have in common, no matter how confusing, conflicting, or complex, is energy. No matter what language you speak, you understand what energy means.
Energy connects, fuels, and is everything, literally. It’s often an afterthought when it comes to food theories and is normally overshadowed by marketing, misinformation, and malice, when it should be the primary or the first thought of the theory, science, or approach.
How do you maximize your daily energy potential? How do you convert energy more efficiently? How do you elevate your energy naturally? How do you clean up spillover energy that is now overfat? Once you start thinking, focusing, and approaching your health from a holistic, integrative, and energy balance perspective, everything will naturally, easily, and consistency stay in optimal balance, for life.
You will look better, you will feel better, and you will also move better. Restoring, refreshing, and renewing your energy, promotes powerful healing, health, and harmony.
RETHINK, RESET, AND RESTRUCTURE
You need to rethink, refresh, and restructure your root perspective of health, fitness, and food. Do you think they are connected, or nah? How you view, chose, and eat food needs to evolve.
What’s the purpose of food in the first place? Why can’t we just live on air? Your dysfunctional, disconnected, and damaging relationship with food, needs to evolve. You’ve tried every program, diet, and eating healthy from so many different perspectives, and where has that gotten you? Your sense of healthy blind balance is the result of years of conflicting, confusing, and convoluted mainstream misinformation of what people, companies, and brands “think” you need to eat to be healthy.
Or more importantly what they want you to buy to “think” you are being healthy and putting what’s best in your body. This has all unwittingly lead you to become energy inefficient because you’ve been trained (since diapers) to eat mostly foods with empty energy, foods that give you a false since of fuel.
It may have a nutrition label listing the expected energy it will give you on the outside, but that doesn’t mean that your body will actually recognize that energy or absorb those nutrients. Like putting water in the fuel tank of a car (who TF would ever do that though?), do you think that car would get very far? But the water says “premium” though. The food that you put in your mouth is just like the fuel you put in your car, it f*cking matters. And if you don’t have a car, that can also mean any train, bus, Uber, etc that transports your *ss somewhere sassy pants.
You’ve been taught, trained, and told to ignore, one of the basic fundamentals of why you even eat food in the first place, the heart, root, soul, and source of all food, energy. You eat food for energy, and that energy in turn keeps you alive and moving. Real food provides efficient energy and fake food provides empty energy.
ENHANCED, EFFICIENT, AND EMPTY ENERGY
Efficient energy is clean, long-lasting, and productive. Empty energy is unreliable, short, and void of nutrients. Food isn’t good or bad, food is ENERGY. Efficient or empty energy, there is no neutral exchange.
It unfortunately took me years and a near death experience to reach this level of evolution on food. It sounds so simple right? If it’s so simple, how come it’s still so hard to get most people to eat healthy, clean, and efficiently then? Why are hundreds of thousands of people dying yearly from preventable diseases that could have been treated, slowed down, or even eliminated by the food they eat?
If I didn’t rethink, restructure, and reinvent my relationship with food, I wouldn’t be here today to tell you this story. One easy step you can take to start to take control of your health is drop the morality of food and start thinking of it in terms of either enhanced, efficient, or empty energy.
